Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few questions we seem to get. If you have more, just contact us.
Q: What type of races is Performance
Timing capable of timing?
A: Check our Services page for a list of our primary activities.
Also keep in mind that we will consider other types of races if we
determine we have the capability to properly time the event.
Just contact us and we will review your requirements and determine
if we can meet those needs.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: This really depends on the type of event, travel requirements,
complexity of the race(s), and additional services provided.
The fee arrangement can be a cost/entry + expenses or some form of a
flat fee. Again, much of this would depend on the the event
specifics.
Q: What do event hosts need to provide?
A: Generally speaking, we need to the event host to
provide a number of things such as race set-up specifics which can
usually be taken off of an entry form, data entry for preregistered
entries, a handful of volunteers to assist with non-technical timing
tasks and about 1/2 hour of time prior to the race to train those
volunteers, and a finish line set-up. These items may be
provided by Performance Timing for an additional charge.
Q: How quickly can results be produced after the
race?
A: If everything goes as it should, results are
usually produced within minutes of the race being finished. We
often will produce preliminary results even during the race as
the early finishers come in.
Q: What do you do with the results?
A: First, we will provide them onsite by posting them
on a results board. Second, we provide a copy for the race
director for presenting awards. Then we will post final
results online at this website under the Results section. We
will also send them to any media outlet you request. We
generally provide results in three ways; overall, gender, and class
(age/gender). However, we can provide results in other ways as
needed such as varsity and junior varsity.
Q: Do you have online registration capabilities?
A: While we do not provide those services at this
time, we do have a partner that we would recommend if this service
is needed. We will also work direct with other online
registration vendors if you decide to use a different service.
Q: What type of experience do you have in managing
races?
A: I have been involved in sports my entire life and
have participated in a variety of sports including running, biking,
cross-country skiing and probably a few other types of events.
As for race management, I have provided services primarily for
running events, but have done snowshoe races, multi-sport events,
and cross-country ski races. Besides providing timing services
to these sorts of events, I have also provided timing and
administrative services to the local high schools for track and
swimming.
